Many of the supporting services available to chemistry faculty and students, in both teaching and research areas, are external to the department. Other services are external to the University but readily available. Both faculty and students are encouraged to use the facilities, with advisory supervision when necessary, to fabricate glassware, electronic, mechanical or other apparatus in the shops.

Glassware Fabrication and Repair

Glassware fabrication equipment is available for most minor glass work jobs. For fabrication and repair of specialized glassware, a professional glass blower is available in Odessa.

University Laboratory Division

Most of the supporting services and shops available for academic and research purposes are managed by the University's Laboratory Division, Hazardous materials management and Safety(materials, inspection and training) UTPB Labs. The electronics shop and a laboratory technical staff office are located in the chemistry buildings.

 The operation and maintenance of the chemistry buildings is the responsibility of the UTPB Physical Plant. They are most helpful with those intricate remodeling jobs. On campus recycling of aluminum and paper is managed by Physical Plant.
