![]() C HEMISTRY - Research: Dr. Kyle A. Beran Undergraduate Student Research Participation I am a huge proponent of undergraduate research opportunities for our students here at UTPB. Since we are a primarily undergraduate institution, the chemistry faculty may only have an individual student perform research under their guidance for 1 - 2 semesters. Therefore, my philosophy is that each student should have the chance to experience the entire research process. Beginning with background literary research, to performing the calculations (modeling the structures, extracting data from the output, etc.), additional spreadsheet calculations, organization of data/results, drawing conclusions based on the analysis of their results, and then the reward. Each spring we (UTPB Chemistry faculty) take students to the National ACS meeting to present the results of their research. Undergraduate Student Researchers: Student (Year of Graduation)
In addition to presenting research posters, our students are also involved in the Demo Exchange Symposium and the Student Affiliate of the American Chemical Society (SAACS) Chapter poster. Below are a few pictures taken over the last few years of UTPB undergraduate students (some of them presenting their research) at the ACS meetings.
