Earn your master's degree for less than $5,000 with UT Permian Basin's BEST scholarship program! The BEST program can also help you earn your superintendent's certification or even get certified to become a teacher. UTPB's School of Education meets the national "gold standard" for excellence, and is accredited by the prestigious National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Our faculty also meets the gold standard, and they are nationally recognized leaders in their fields. What does this mean for you? It means that the teachers and specialists we train are prepared for today's changing educational environment and are the very best educators
Texas and the Permian Basin needs more highly-qualified, effective classroom teachers, principals, superintendents,and other school professionals. To meet this challenge, UTPB has developed the BEST program, an innovative scholarship program for students starting classes during Summer 2008 and Fall 2008 who want to:
- Earn a master's degree in Educational Leadership, Counseling Education, Professional Education, Bilingual Education, Reading, Early Childhood or Special Education.
- Get certified to teach (if you already hold at least a bachelor's degree).
- Obtain a superintendent certification through our cutting-edge, web-based program.
- Earn a master's degree in a content area such as History, English, Biology, Computer Science, Kinesiology, Spanish and others (if you're already certified to teach).

Enroll in classes in Summer 2008 or Fall 2008.
To qualify for the BEST program, students must pursue:
- Teacher Certification
- Master's Degree in Education
- Superintendent Certification
- Master's Degree in a Content Area.
BEST Advantages
- Flexible schedules with night, online and weekend classes
- Expedited admissions
- You can earn a master's degree for less that $5,000. (Typical cost is more that $7,000)
- An NCATE accredited program with nationally recognized, on-site faculty.
How the BEST program works
- A $150 scholarship for each course meeting requirements in the chosen program of study
- A $300 scholarship for each of the final two courses of the program
** The number of courses for post-baccalaureate teacher certification varies by certification and these students will receive the same type of financial assistance in completing their coursework.
NOTE:
Although the BEST program is designed for student starting their work Summer or Fall 2008, students with 6 hours or less already completed in a graduate program or post-baccalaureate teacher certification may petition for admission to the program. Admission is not designed to replace other UTPB scholarship programs such as WTPC, Project SHARE or TEANS. Students should be able to complete all the requirements for their degree/certification within three years of entering the program.
