The BEST program can also help you earn your superintendent's certification or even get certified to become a teacher. Texas and the Permian Basin needs more highly-qualified, effective classroom teachers, principals, superintendents,and other school professionals. To meet this challenge, UTPB has developed the BEST program, an innovative scholarship program for students starting classes during Summer 2008 and Fall 2008 who want to:

Enroll in classes in Summer 2008 or Fall 2008.
To qualify for the BEST program, students must pursue:
** The number of courses for post-baccalaureate teacher certification varies by certification and these students will receive the same type of financial assistance in completing their coursework.
Although the BEST program is designed for student starting their work Summer or Fall 2008, students with 6 hours or less already completed in a graduate program or post-baccalaureate teacher certification may petition for admission to the program. Admission is not designed to replace other UTPB scholarship programs such as WTPC, Project SHARE or TEANS. Students should be able to complete all the requirements for their degree/certification within three years of entering the program.
