UTPB's new Falcon Promise Program
UTPB is announcing the Falcon Promise Program for students from families making $60,000 per year or less! Beginning Fall 2009, students who are Texas residents and Pell Grant eligible can acquire a quality, four-year education at The University of Texas of the Permian Basin with up to 15 hours of tuition per semester covered by the Falcon Promise Program.
Students will qualify if they meet all of the following criteria:
- Texas residents according to state guidelines
- Pell Grant eligible according to Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Have combined family Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $60,000 or less
- Have completed financial aid paperwork by July 15
- Have been accepted to UTPB
The Falcon Promise Program will cover tuition and mandatory fees. The program will not cover books, room/board, supplies, or miscellaneous expenses.
Prospective UTPB students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours each regular term in order to benefit from the Falcon Promise Program over eight consecutive regular semesters (summer school is not included). They must maintain a 2.00 GPA and complete 75% of the hours they attempt during each regular term. There are no age restrictions as long as students are full-time undergraduates. The Falcon Promise Program also applies to transfer students.
Funding for this new program comes from federal and state need-based aid as well as institutional funds.
