This year the UTPB Undergraduate Research Program will be offering research grants for the first time. Interested undergraduate students will submit grant proposal accompanied by a letter of support from a faculty mentor and a detailed budget. Grant money may be used for expendable supplies, equipment, undergraduate student travel to research sites and or regional, national or international meetings, and other expenses related to data collection, research or the cost of producing a poster. These funds cannot be used for compensating the student or the faculty member.
As in the past, students will be expected to attend a seminar on graduate school and present their research at the undergraduate research day in the spring. In addition to attending a graduate school seminar students will have to attend a research update session in January. There is no monetary limit on requests, but the Undergraduate Research Committee reserves the right to adjust award amounts in order to maximize the program’s impact.
To qualify, students must be undergraduate UTPB students for the entire 2016-2017 academic year.
The new application system for the undergraduate research program has been launched! The call will remain open for two weeks. Late submissions will not be considered. Please have your proposal, budget, and mentor letter ready before beginning the submission process. Applications are due October 28th.
