It is all about you! UTPB is changing email communication with students. Beginning on March 22, 2017 all UTPB correspondence with you, as a student, will be sent to the your UTPB email address. Student Canvas accounts will refer messaging notifications to your UTPB email address. You are highly encouraged to use your UTPB email when corresponding with UTPB regarding any issue that impacts your educational record, such as financial aid, Registrar, academic advisor, etc.
In order to successfully transition to your UTPB email account, you will need to either
- configure your email app to connect to Office 365 (recommended),
- regularly check your UTPB email account or
- turn on email forwarding from your UTPB email account to an account that you do check regularly.
Failure to do so could result in important notifications going unread.
How will this benefit you?
First, by using your utpb.edu email address, you automatically have FREE use of Office 365 which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MUCH more. Please go to https://login.microsoftonline.com/?whr=utpb.edu to see all the programs associated with Office 365. There are tools there that will be helpful for study groups, students working on projects, friends, etc.
Second, it provides you a mechanism to keep all your UTPB email correspondence in an account separate from your personal email.
Third, any communication the university receives from your utpb.edu email address will validate for the university that the person sending the email truly is the student associated with that email account. Your utpb.edu email will be password protected.
Fourth, use of your utpb.edu email account will provide a mechanism for authentication for online courses.
If you have questions or concerns, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call xHELP (x4357).
