"Home" Institution Information
This program uses the talent of professors from several University of Texas
campuses, to make
specific classes available to students who would like to complete their
criminal justice degree without attending ‘normal in-class/on campus’
courses. The program is delivered through the Internet technology (WWW).
Generally, these campuses have determined the courses they feel
best suit the on-line program. Each school has prepared
specific courses for the delivery of courses for the program. The courses
will all be accepted at each of the three degree granting institutions as either
required courses, elective courses, or "free" electives. What
this means is that a student can choose which of the schools programs
of study they feel best fits their needs. Each school has slightly different
requirements. Some courses that might be required
at one school, may be optional electives at another.
The degree can be obtained by meeting the requirements of your "home school".
UTPB Arlington & Brownsville are the only schools in this program that can
grant a degree. UT Dallas & El Paso assist by providing courses to this degree.
Students must choose their "home school" & Then meet the specific
requirements of that institution for graduation. There are specific differences
in these school requirements.
Once a student selects which school will be their "home" institution,
that student must then meet all the program requirements of that school.
Remember, all of these schools have different programs. It is advised
that all prospective students examine the degree requirements of each
school prior to determining their "home" institution. Once a
home school is selected, students can then take courses to meet that institution’s
requirements through the Web courses offered in the on-line completion
program. Again, each school has their own specific degree plans that must
be met.
The institutions then prepare and deliver specific courses each
semester that can be applied to the required courses of their "home"
institution. The idea here is to provide more options for students by
using multiple courses offered at one location (the internet) from the
different schools. Each school will accept the courses at their institution
(as long as they meet their degree plan) that are delivered from another
school.
