West Texas Geological Society (WTGS)
This 1200 member society has a majority of its members in Midland, Texas.

American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)
Members are working all over the world and are primarily involved as practicing professionals in the petroleum industry. Duh.

Geological Society of America (GSA)
Members are predominantly academicians and government geologists.

American Geological Institute (AGI)
An overall coordinating society with membership from most of the significant societies associated with the Geosciences. The organization promotes geoscience education, maintains the GEOREF database, publishes the Glossary of Geology, directory of Geoscience Departments, and much more.
