It is the desire of the College of Business and Engineering faculty that students develop skills and knowledge that will help them advance in their career endeavors, present and future. To help achieve this goal, courses are designed to provide the foundation of knowledge that is both current and relevant to the course topics. It is our aim to help students develop those skills that employers will value and reward.
Students in the College of Business and Engineering have numerous opportunities as they advance in their chosen disciplines to take courses that offer "real" projects with real problems that real organizations struggle to solve. In doing so, students are challenged in ways in which they may expect to be challenged by their employers.
MBA, MPA, and MBA Online
The College of Business and Engineering has graduate programs leading to a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Management and a Master of Professional Accountancy (MPA) degree. Both the MBA and the MPA are professional programs designed to prepare individuals for business endeavors, although some students will proceed to doctoral level preparation. Emphasis on different types of organizations including small and entrepreneurial firms, service firms, and government is included to serve the needs of the region. Graduate courses are offered in the evening to accommodate students who are employed while working toward an advanced degree.
The MBA Online in General Management provides today's students with the tools necessary to become leaders in the workplace of tomorrow. This degree is offered by a consortium of eight University of Texas campuses through the U.T. Telecampus. Courses taken in this program are treated as U.T. Permian Basin courses for credit and computation of grade point average. Students may take MBA courses on campus and MBA Online courses to complete the MBA degree. Students who cannot commute regularly to the U.T. Permian Basin campus because of distance or time constraints are encouraged to consider MBA Online courses.
