Mentoring is free for UTPB freshmen who request it.

These mentors fill the role of big brother or big sister on campus and mix weekly academic assistance with monthly social activities.

The University of Texas of the Permian Basin was recognized for excellence October 29 by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board at its quarterly meeting in Austin for implementing the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program in two sections of its Freshman Seminars. Click here to read more about the THECB honoring UTPB.
