- American Chemical Society
- Chemistry.org Sponsored by the ACS and aimed at a wide audience--
from pre-K through 16 and beyond.
- CHEMINFO
- Chemical Information Sources from Indiana University
- CHEMnetBase
- several essential chemical reference works and databases
- Chemistry Calculations Page and
Chemistry Functions: EdNet@UMass
- Both sites are aimed at assisting undergraduate chemistry students, particularly with balancing chemistry equations, etc.
- Chemistry Resources
- A Dictionary of Units
- site provides a summary of most of the units of measurement in use today, together with the appropriate conversions
need to change them into a standard unit of the Systeme International d'Unites (SI)
- Electrochemistry Dictionary
- navigation is simple, but printing a specific entry is difficult; cut and paste to a word processing program rather than trying to print directly from the web
- Environmental Contaminants Encyclopedia
- Environmental Fate Data Base
- a reasonably user-friendly turnkey interface for students or anyone associated with chemical handling and environmental law.
- Facility for the Analysis of Chemical Thermodynamics
- Information Retrieval in Chemistry WWW Server
Two well-reviewed sites on liquid chromatography
- Liquid Chromatography . U. of Akron
- Basic Liquid Chromatography Seton Hall U.
- The Macrogalleria
- polymers, University of Southern Mississippi
- NIST Chemistry Web Book
- Organic Chemistry Resources World-Wide
- PubChem
- A freely available database project from the National Center for Biotechnology Information; consists of three databases
Compond, Substance, and BioAssay. Online help is clear, but users should know some drug development vocabulary; more than 7 million
substances and 5 million compounds described.
- Search the Acronym Database
- From the Chemistry Library at the University of Indiana-Bloomington. The search looks not only for the basic letters but for other acronyms that include them.
- Spectra Online
- Use with care, one reviewer stated that: "Spectra Online is faster to use than any print version but the coverage (6000 spectra) may not be as complete."
- Trinity University Cheminformatics Site
- useful Web site maintained to give access to current, accurate information on a wide range of chemical informatics topics.
- The Virtual Chemistry Center
- Martindale's Virtual Reference Desk
- The Wired Chemist
- well-reviewed site; easy to read and navigate; uses 3-D and animated sequences as visual aids
- World-Wide Web Subject Catalog: Chemistry
- The World-Wide Web Virtual Library: Chemistry

ChemClub.com Originally, " Chemist's Net an international collaboration of chemistry teachers;"
this site is now hosted by Cambridge Scientific. The site has been expanded to function as an umbrella for several sites, e.g.ChemPubs, ChemSites, ChemHumor, and
ChemFinder.
The main page now makes clear which materials are free and which materials have a fee attached. Any fees are the direct responsiblity of
the user--neither UTPB nor the Dunagan Library pay fees associated with this site.
Chemical Heritage Foundation
Classic Chemistry an excellent web site, which provides
access to many other sites treating all aspects of the history of chemistry
Professional Ethics for Scientists: Annotated Bibliography
An extensive Web site with many links to sites and papers treating ethics in science.
Trade Secrets: A Moyers Report was a 90-minute documentary followed by a 30-minute panel discussion, investigating
the chemical industry's efforts to control information about risks to human health and the environment caused by exposure
to toxic chemicals. Links are provided here for the web site written to support the program; the web site of the
Chemical Industry Archives and the web site for an article in response published in Chemical and Engineering News.
