Nadine Craddick, of Midland, and Lorraine Perryman, of Odessa, have been named co-chairs of the committee that will plan the gala celebration that will mark the grand opening of the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center in early 2012. The announcement was made by W. David Watts, President of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB).

“We are extremely fortunate and appreciative that these two leaders in the Permian Basin have consented to share their many talents to help the region open this great facility. With these two ladies in charge, there should be no doubt that the excitement surrounding this great facility will now extend to the events that will celebrate its opening,” said Watts.

Watts said the two co-chairs have been busy putting together the nucleus of an extraordinary planning committee that will, as it grows, coordinate a grand celebration and opening befitting the long-awaited performance hall. Honorary chairs of the event are Lissa and Cy Wagner. Committee members from Odessa include Barbara Davis, Peggy Dean, Renee Earls, Betsy Triplett-Hurt, and Collin Sewell. From Midland, committee members include Penny Angelo, Laurie Boldrick, Rhonda Durham, Sharla Hotchkiss, and Terry Wilkinson. Other persons assisting in the effort include Grant

Billingsley and Don Wood, who served on the Special Community Advisory Committee appointed in 2006, Craig Van Amburgh of CVA Advertising, and Carol Roberts-Spence, Executive Director of the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center.

Mrs. Craddick is married to State Representative and former Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives Tom Craddick. She has served as Chairman of the Midland Chamber of Commerce, was a charter board member of the Midland-Odessa Transportation Alliance (MOTRAN), and she is a long-time member of the Board of Governors of Midland Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Perryman is married to Ray Perryman, noted economist and president of the economic and financial analysis firm, the Perryman Group. She is a former Mayor of the City of Odessa, has served as a member of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and is a founder and President of the Ector County Education Foundation.

Carole Roberts-Spence said the co-chairs expect the committee to grow as plans for the event – or events – begin to take shape. Construction of the Wagner Noël is on schedule, with work expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2011. She also said that performance venues such as the Wagner Noël traditionally host a number of “soft openings” upon completion of construction, and that grand or gala openings are often scheduled after such initial events. The gala event for the Wagner Noël is currently contemplated for the first quarter of 2012.
