UT Permian Basin Programs Available
on the Midland College Campus
UT Permian Basin currently offers 20-25 courses during a long semester on the Midland College campus, by either interactive television or by having UTPB faculty come to the MC campus. In addition, UTPB offers web-based courses for students in all locations. Through a two-year rotation of courses, UTPB strives to offer the upper-division courses required to complete the following degree programs:
- Bachelor of Arts Degree with Major in Child and Family Studies
- Bachelor of Arts Degree with Major in English
- Bachelor of Arts Degree with Major in History
- Bachelor of Arts Degree with Major in Humanities
- Bachelor of Arts Degree with Major in Multidisciplinary Studies
- Bachelor of Arts Degree with Major in Spanish
- Masters of Science Degree with Major in Criminal Justice Administration
Several of the degrees above require a minor. The upper-level courses required for a minor are available in Art History, Communication, Computer Science, English, History, Mathematics, Political Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, and Spanish. A minor in Criminology may be earned using upper-division courses taught online.
The courses required for teacher certification for Early Childhood through Grade 4 are also offered. Since many of these courses are also required for Grades 4-8 and Grades 8-12 certifications, over half of the courses for these certifications are also offered. While UT Permian Basin offers courses for teacher certification, it does not grant teacher certification. That is done by the Texas State Board of Educator Certification upon completion of the appropriate courses work, passage of the appropriate SBEC certification exam, and completion of other SBEC requirements.
Three degrees, completely through web-based instruction, are available through UT Permian Basin and the UT TeleCampus, a consortium of UT System institutions. These are the:
- Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration
- Master of Business Administration
- Master of Science in Kinesiology
