Dr. Trentham joined the staff of CEED on April 9, 2001.  Bob has been a Permian Basin geologist for over 21 years.  He began his career with Gulf Oil in 1980 in Midland, and continued working for Gulf and Chevron until 1992.  From 1992 to this year, he was a consultant in Midland.

In addition to working in both exploration and production in the Permian Basin, he has worked in the Palo Duro, Hardeman, Dalhart, and Tucumcari Basins.  Bob has been responsible for both new field discoveries in exploration and new pool discoveries in production.

During his career he has developed expertise in the Ellenburger, Pennsylvanian carbonates and Permian shelf and basin carbonates and clastics.  Bob was the Project Manager and Principal Investigator on the recently completed Laguana Petroleum/DOE Study of the Grayburg/ San Andres reservoirs in the Foster-South Cowden Field, in Ector County, Texas.

As a consultant, he completed in depth field and/or integrated core studies for Phillips Petroleum, Conoco, ARCO, Burlington Resources, Laguna Petroleum and Saga Petroleum.

In conjunction with Bob Lindsay of Chevron, and Midland Consultants Al Smith and Bob Ward, Bob is conducting field work in Grayburg and Queen equivalent outcrops in the Apache Mountains.  These outcrops are reservoir analogs to Guadalupe age producing horizons on the southern half of the Central Basin Platform and elsewhere.  Bob received his D.G.S. from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1981.  He is presently teaching Oceanography at UTPB and working with graduate students to develop Permian Basin related thesis topics.
