Academic Interests

Susan Ray is a Medical Technologist with over 30 years of experience in various clinical and educational facilities. She currently runs the clinical lab sciences program for the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. The program with UTMB is breaking new ground in the area of distance training for students. It is the first time a cooperative effort has been tried between two institutions. The need for qualified medical laboratory personnel throughout the nation is just as great as the need for nurses.

Students take their first two years of basics at UTPB or other institution of higher learning and the last two years are through UTMB with classes being taught by videoconference from UTMB at the UTPB campus. Laboratories are at UTPB and the Preceptorships are at local medical facilities. Susan is also the Preceptor advisor.
