HT³R- Research Scientist/Engineer for HT³R (HTTTR) Project
Education : Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related fields.

Duties : The applicant, if hired, would have the following duties:

Work on the completion of the Pre-Conceptual Design and follow-up efforts for the proposed High-Temperature Teaching and Test Reactor (HT ³ R). The HT ³ R will be a modular, high-temperature helium-cooled reactor that uses TRISO fuel compacts in a graphite prismatic core. It is expected to initially operate at temperatures up to 950 º C,
Teach engineering courses in the existing Industrial Technology degree program and the joint engineering programs with the University of Texas at El Paso and the University of Texas at Austin, and
Participate in the start of a new College of Engineering at UT Permian Basin.
Qualifications : The successful candidate will report directly to the UT-Permian Basin HT ³ R Project Manager and must read, write and speak English. They also must have experience in using radiation transport codes and/or thermal-hydraulics or -hydrodynamics codes applicable to nuclear reactor design. They could also be involved in the determination of the materials used in, and design of, the primary and secondary cooling system of a high-temperature gas cooled reactor, plus thermal interfaces with experimental/development facilities that include: a Brayton Cycle Development Laboratory, a Radiation Laboratory, and a High-Temperature Materials and Process Laboratory. A US Government secret security clearance may be required and employees will be susceptible to random drug testing.

Term : Starting immediately and ending August 31, 2010 and potentially leading to a tenured full-time research and faculty position.
