If you have your bachelor’s degree and a passion for teaching, investigate the online UTPB Fast Track Teacher Certification Program.

"This fast, affordable, convenient transition to teaching provides an opportunity for individuals to keep their current employment while finishing their coursework and obtaining a probationary certification to begin teaching," explained Dean Frank Hernandez of UTPB’s nationally accredited College of Education.

"Fast Track will help school districts find teachers and folks who want to teach get prepared," said UTPB President David Watts. The curriculum of online classes enables students to enter the program at five intervals during the year: late August, October, January, March or May/June. The high quality coursework meets Texas Education Agency’s requirements for teacher preparation and is closely supervised by UTPB personnel. These graduate courses can be a "steppingstone toward a master’s degree," Hernandez concluded.

The curriculum consists of 15 credit hours for a probationary teaching certificate at the elementary, middle, or secondary level. Secondary certifications are available in Chemistry, Computer Science, English Language Arts and Reading, History, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Speech, and Journalism.

Cost for the Fast Track program is $1800 for tuition plus textbooks. Essentially, this amounts to $300 per course, plus $300 for supervision.
