Intensive English student at computerThe University of Texas of the Permian Basin offers a year-round Intensive English Program with a variety of levels to help students by listening, speaking, reading, grammar, and writing. Language course sessions are 4 (Summer June/July) - 7 weeks (Fall & Spring).

This comprehensive and unique program functions to satisfy several student goals:

  • to pass the TOEFL
  • to use English for business or technical interests
  • to have a social and cultural understanding of the English Language

Mission Statement

The Intensive English Program (IEP) is an important component of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, which serves to advance the university’s mission.  The IEP prepares students for collegiate academic success in the United States by offering small intensive courses that ensure maximum participation and learning in English.  It also promotes the opportunity to explore diverse cultural orientation for students and professionals.  The IEP is a fully integrated program that practices respect for people of all backgrounds.
