UTPB's free Summer Bridge Program gives students from grades 9-12 a pathway to help them be successful academically. In addition, instruction on how to apply for scholarships and assistance will help them become financially prepared for life at the university level.
Throughout each week, students will study how to prepare for college and will gain insight to prepare for Texas entrance exams like the SAT, ACT, THEA, and COMPASS. They will meet working professionals and network with college students to help them consider options for various careers and majors. Details concerning how to apply for admission, how to study at the university level, and how to master "the college system" will also be provided to Summer Bridge students.
Prospective students need to apply through their high school counselors. Although applications are not due until May 20, space is limited, so early applications are recommended. The program will be held from 8am-5pm and each high school student that completes Summer Bridge will earn a $500 scholarship to UTPB for his/her first fall semester after high school graduation.
