FACULTY RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT FUND


Full-time tenure/tenure-track faculty members are eligible. Awards up to a maximum of $2,000 for direct research costs. Funding may cover data acquisition, copying, software, consumable supplies, printing, postage, & other. Travel for data-collection may be considered.

Expected results are professional presentations and/or articles. Final reports with copies of papers/presentations/articles are required by one year after project completion.

APPLICATION. Proposals should be two pages in length, plus a budget. Describe the project, justify the request for support, identify the professional organization/publication where submissions are planned, include a time-line with completion date, provide a budget, obtain approval from chairs and deans (and any other affected department, such as IRD), and submit to the Office of Sponsored Research.

SPONSORED PROJECT DEVELOPMENT FUND


Full-time tenure/tenure-track faculty and professional staff eligible. Proposals may be pilot projects for potential externally funded research, with provisions for grant proposal preparation activities and for meetings of funding agencies for preparing their grants.

Funding may cover:
Release time or summer salary
Student assistance
Direct research expenses (see above)
Equipment costs

Expected results are submission of external proposals within one year, with the possibility of securing significant external grant support.

Preference will be given to projects that meet definitions of research as determined by guidelines of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA).

The Office of Sponsored Research will facilitate access to information about agencies with grant programs. Available sources include the
Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN) and the Grants Resource Center Bulletin (GRC).

APPLICATION. Proposals should be fully developed (10 pages maximum). Describe the project, justify the request for support, identify the potential external funding source(s) and specific grant program(s), explain how the project will increase the likelihood of this funding, include a time-line with completion date, attach a bibliography, provide a budget, obtain approval from chairs and deans (and any other pertinent offices), and submit to the Office of Sponsored Research.
