Research and Grants at UTPB

Faculty teamwork, spirit and collaboration resulted in the University of Texas of the Permian Basin being awarded several grants that will benefit leaders in education, economic development in West Texas and research on a global scale.

Dr. Susan Lara (Front row, left) headed up a team of grant writers that have brought in more than $1.7 million in grants for the School of Education. Dr. Steve Jenkins (front row, middle) worked on the School of Education grant along with Dr. Carl Hoffmeyer (second row, far right). Dr. Douglas P. Henderson (first row, far right), received nearly $200,000 from the National Institutes of Health to research hemoglobin. Gilbert Sanchez (back row, second from left), Assistant Director of Bilingual Education and the University's Hispanic-Serving Institution, was awarded a Workforce Investment Act grant to benefit area high school students.
