SCHOLARSHIP AWARD CRITERIA |
The University of Texas of the Permian Basin encourages students to apply for scholarship assistance through all sources available to achieve the best results. Assistance from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin may be in the form of an institutional award such as the Presidential Plus, Presidential, Freshman Merit, Freshman Grant and through scholarship funds that have been endowed with the University by individuals and companies desiring to help worthy students.
Awards for freshman students are made based on high school class rank, SAT or ACT exam scores, unit requirements and additional nominations demonstrating academic excellence, civic pride, and leadership qualities during their high school years.
Transfer student eligibility is determined based on academic performance at the previous college or university attended.
Continuing students are eligible to apply for scholarships based on academic excellence achieved while attending The University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
Most scholarships have a deadline for application with preference being given to those who apply early, meet the specified criteria, and will be attending The University of Texas of the Permian Basin as a full-time student.

SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES |
All scholarships awarded by The University of Texas of the Permian Basin must be on a competitive basis. All scholarship recipients at The University of Texas of the Permian Basin must meet the following criteria:
1. General criteria for awarding scholarships may include the following:
a. Receive unconditional admission to The University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
b. Meet the particular qualifications for the scholarship being considered.
c. Have the recommendation of high school and/or college officials.
d. Present evidence of good moral character and good citizenship.
e. Provide scholastic records from high school and colleges or universities attended.
2. No person shall be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under any program or activity sponsored by The University of Texas of the Permian Basin on any basis prohibited by applicable law, including but not limited to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability or veteran status.
3. The amount of scholarship and other financial aid cannot exceed that provided for in-state and federal regulations or, in any case, exceed the estimated cost per year of student expenses as determined by The University of Texas of the Permian Basin’s Financial Aid Office.
4. Recipients of scholarships must be enrolled as full-time students (12 semester hours for an undergraduate or 9 semester hours for a graduate student).
5. If an out-of-state student is the recipient of a competitive scholarship in the amount of $1000.00 or more, his or her out-of-state tuition will be waived during the semester or semesters the scholarship is in effect. The scholarship must have been administered by a U. T. Permian Basin scholarship committee (The University of Texas of the Permian Basin Scholarship Committee, Departmental Scholarship Committee, or any other scholarship committee consisting of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin faculty and staff).

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION |
CLASSIFICATION OF STUDENTS:
Undergraduate students are classified according to the number of semester hours completed:
0-29…………… Freshman 30-59……………Sophomore
60-89…………… Junior 90 or more…… Senior
UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS
Before a student will be admitted to The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, the following items must be on file in the Office of Admissions:
1. Application for admission.
2. Official secondary school transcript with date of graduation and rank in class recorded or an official copy of GED scores. If transferring, copies of transcripts from the college(s) previously attended.
3. Scores on the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
GRADUATE ADMISSIONS
Students pursuing a master’s degree must hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution. Official transcripts reflecting all college work attempted and degree(s) conferred should be on file in the Office of Admissions at least 60 days prior to initial registration as a graduate student.
Also, the student must have satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), or for students in Business Administration, the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), in the Office of Graduate Studies prior to the end of the first long semester of enrollment.
