Student Orientation
The mission of the Orientation Programs is to provide services and assistance that will: aid new students in their transition to UTPB expose new students to the broader educational opportunities of UTPB integrate new students into the life of UTPB.
All persons who have been accepted to the university will receive an invitation via U.S. mail. For all New Student Orientation sessions, invitations will be sent to all new students accepted by UTPB. Only students who have been accepted are eligible to attend. New students will be given the option of (a) full, traditional orientation with an overnight stay, and (b) Express Orientation with just the basics. It is highly recommended for new freshmen to attend the "Traditional" overnight orientation to learn as much about campus as possible and to meet some of your future classmates.
Orientation is organized by OLA (Orientation Leaders Association) with the assistance of the Office of Student Life and the Orientation Advisory Committee, which consists of faculty, staff, and administrators from many departments on campus. The Orientation Leaders Association is biased, in that we believe all students should take plenty of time to go through a full, traditional orientation to get to know campus and your fellow students before classes start. On the other hand, we know many of today's students work and have families, so you don't always have time for a full-length, traditional orientation. We want you to make the choice. |
