ACS Permian Basin Section
A message from the Chair ...
Welcome ... to the Permian Basin (PB) Local Section web site. We are a local chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS) located in West Texas. This local section of the ACS comprises 12 counties in West Texas: Andrews, Crane, Ector, Glasscock, Howard, Martin, Midland, Scurry, Sterling, Tom Green, Ward, and Winkler, and 1 county in New Mexico: Lea County. The universities in the region are Angelo State University in San Angelo, The University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Midland College in Midland, Odessa College in Odessa, and Sul Ross State University in Alpine.
The PB-ACS promotes public awareness of chemistry by having students and faculty at institutions of higher education involved in outreach programs in our community and work with students of all ages to encourage an interest in the chemical sciences.
