What was your assignment during your internship?

In the beginning of the internship a project was assigned to each intern, during twelve weeks each intern was to work on the project while also assisting other employees in their projects. At the end of the internship, each intern had a poster presentation, an oral presentation and a report to submit. The goal of the project assigned to me was to update and run multiple scenarios on a computer model of the water distribution system at Fermi lab. During the summer, I also worked on projects that involved AutoCAD, in which I would update drawings of buildings as instructed by other employees.

How would you rate your internship experience overall?

It was an amazing experience, because I was able to apply knowledge from my classes on an internship, which showed how important the classes were. It was also an opportunity to meet people from all around the world and learn from them. Moreover, I lived in a place I never imagined I would be able to and I am glad that I had this internship.

What are the benefits of an internship?

I believe an internship is a great way to know if you're on the right major and if you're going to enjoy working with what you're studying, so that was a great benefit. It was also a good way of networking, since I had a good relationship with many employees of the laboratory.
