    Event: John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership Institute (JBS) Distinguished Lecture Series (DLS).

    Brief Description:  The title is: Confronting the Growing Affliction of Human Trafficking. The lecture will feature Mr. John Walsh, host of television shows “America’s Most Wanted” and “The Hunt”.  The goal of the lecture will be to examine and illuminate humanitarian leadership in action against human trafficking at the state and national levels. Bob Brescia, Executive Director of the John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership Institute and Pat Canty, Publisher of the Odessa American will co-moderate the panel. The DLS Panel consists of John Walsh, Texas State Representative Senfronia Thompson, retired Fort Worth Detective Manny Reyes, FBI Special Agent Kristin Rehlin, and Traffick911 CEO Deena Graves.

  • How to Prepare a Resume Using Action Verbs & Quantitative Statements

    Moderator: Tony Love, UTPB Career Center.  Chronological and functional resumes will be discussed along with strategies on how incorporate action verbs and quantitative statements to make your resume appear to be "bottom line" oriented.  Resumes for educators and cover letters/thank you letters will also be discussed.  A free lunch will be served at 12:15 and door prizes will be awarded.

  • Let's Study Abroad!!!

    Moderators: Tony Love, UTPB Career Center & Jose Antonio Moreno, UTPB Spanish faculty.  Have you ever thought about the possibility of studying abroad for a semester?  Many students do not realize that opportunities exist to study abroad and articulate credit within their current degree plan.  This presentation will discuss the many issues involved in making the decision to study abroad and also share financial aid and scholarship opportunities available. Upcoming faculty led and exchange programs will be discussed along with traditional semester abroad programs. A free lunch will be served at 12:15 p.m.
