Cheryl L. Prachyl received a BBA in Marketing and MS in Accounting from Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. She began her career with NCR Corporation. While there, she worked with the sale, installation, and training of one of the first bar code scanning systems in the United States. She has also worked in banking, insurance, and in small business system consulting.

Dr. Watts to Step Down as President

After serving 15 years leading The University of Texas of the Permian Basin and overseeing a period of unprecedented growth and evolution, Dr. W. David Watts announced in the annual fall convocation held on campus today, that he had submitted his resignation as president, effective August 31, 2017. “Working together, I think we have accomplished things that no one, perhaps not even ourselves thought possible,” he said in his message.

Football Season Tickets

Season and individual tickets are on sale now. Season tickets are available for purchase until the season opener for $50 and individual tickets are available for $12. Games include the team’s first ever game September 3rd against Sul Ross, the Lone Star Conference opener September 17th against West Texas A&M, and homecoming October 8th against Eastern New Mexico.

UTPB Maintains AACSB Accreditation

The College of Business and Engineering has maintained its business accreditation by AACSB International. AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. AACSB Accreditation has been earned by less than five percent of the world’s business programs.

UTPB’s first artificial playing surface

UT Permian Basin’s first artificial playing surface is a regulation-sized Field Turf synthetic football and soccer field. “The new field will be a benefit to all of our teams,” UTPB Athletics Director Steve Aicinena said. “I’m excited to be able to provide a field that will make participation in our programs safer.”

The UTPB Falcons Football team will face their first opponent Sul Ross 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at Ratliff Stadium located in Odessa, TX. Season tickets as well as individual game tickets are now available for purchase.
