In November of 2023, I was reached out to to be given the opportunity to do a large cup order for UTPB's President's Advisory Council. They wanted 53 of my Lagoon Map Mugs in about 3 weeks turnaround, which if you are familiar with ceramics, is not a lot of time. I felt up to the challenge and got started right away!
I enlisted the help of my friend, Daniel who is also a creator with Student Made UTPB, and we began the process of throwing and finishing the mugs. The beginning was rough as the mugs are made with porcelain, which is not a kind clay to throw with.
Eventually we got in a groove and in total made about 90 mugs in two weeks.
All within a span of a few days we had these mugs rimmed, bisque fired, glazed, and finished the glaze firing in about 12 hours. It got a little insane at the end, but I managed to pick the best of the barch and delivered my commission.
They were really pleased and were very appreciative of my hard work.
