In only its second year, the UT Permian Basin Scholarship Ball has proven to be a success – an event that honors our distinguished alumni, raises money for student scholarships, and highlights the impact that UTPB has in the regio.
2023 Scholarship Ball was held on Thursday, October 26. With the theme “Time to Fly,” attendees had the opportunity to hear from UTPB faculty, students, and leadership. One of the highlights of the event was hearing the President’s String Quartet, the UTPB Jazz Ensemble, and the UTPB Falconers Choir perform.
The Scholarship Ball brings together community partners, faculty, staff, and students to celebrate those who have made an impact on our communities and the University. Dollars raised go toward our General Scholarship Fund which supports all students at UT Permian Basin. More than 90% of enrolled students are eligible for scholarship funds, and many students depend on these dollars to complete their college degrees. All proceeds from the Scholarship Ball support this important initiative.
Each year at the Scholarship Ball, we honor a Distinguished Alumni, Distinguished Young Alumni, Community Partners, and the Lissa Wagner Excellence Award. Here are the 2023 award recipients:
- Distinguished Alumni Award: Gregory D. Williams, EdD
- Distinguished Young Alumni Award: Daniel Bright
- Community Partners Award: Permian Strategic Partnership (PSP)
- Lissa Wagner Excellence Award: Ace Pickens
UT Permian Basin is excited to continue this new tradition for years to come, and we look forward to our next ball in October 2024! If you would like to support students, you’ll find more information about various giving options on the UTPB Give page of our website.
