“I absolutely love being one of the first people that others get to talk to before getting on campus!"
If we could choose a walking billboard for UT Permian Basin, Alexandria Bell would be it! Her experience at UTPB has made her one of our loudest cheerleaders on the field and off.

“UTPB is actually the second most affordable school in Texas which is saying a lot because Texas is huge and we have a lot of universities,” said UTPB graduate, Alexandria Bell.

Alexandria has been a member of our growing cheer program since she arrived at UTPB.

“The past three years our cheer program has been completely different but in all of the best ways. Watching our program become more than what it was initially is just so fulfilling. It makes my heart happy,” Alexandria shared.

As if cheering on the Falcons and competing at the National Cheer competition in Daytona wasn’t enough, Alexandria is also involved in many other things on campus.

“I work in the welcome center, I’m Vice President of the Black Student Union, and I’m doing undergraduate research as well.”

Alexandra Bell waving at graduationAlexandria has earned her bachelor's in psychology, and she’ll be back to walk the stage in December for her bachelor's degree in communication. Originally from Sweetwater, Alexandria knew UTPB was the best fit for her as soon as she stepped foot on campus.

“We toured UTPB, and I was like, I like that school. It’s close to home, it’s only two hours away.”

From being on a tour, to now giving tours to prospective students, Alexandria said she loves to share what makes UTPB so special.

“I absolutely love being one of the first people that others get to talk to before getting on campus! We offer a lot of different degree plans and resources like our makerspace and esports. We also have a rec center, we offer yoga classes, and we have free food all of the time!”

Alexandria is walking the stage debt free thanks to several scholarships and our Falcon Free program which allows students whose families make 100K or less a year to have their tuition and mandatory fees covered.

“The school does provide plenty of scholarships as well the tuition being very low so it’s just a nice relief that I get to come to college, get my degree, have fun, and it’s free! I’m not having to worry about debt after I graduate which is the most important part for me,” Alexandria said.

Alexandria added that thanks to the small class sizes, she’s always felt supported by her professors.

“The professors are amazing! My favorites are probably Tiffany Collier and Mrs. Piper. They are here to help students they always say come see me, I want to know what you’re struggling with.”

So, what’s next for Alexandria?

“I’m actually hoping to stay here on campus! I’m hoping to work as a Freshman Counselor and go recruit at high schools.”

We are thrilled to share that Alexandria will do just that! She was recently offered the job on our enrollment management team. Congratulations Alexandria and Falcons Up!
