UT-LSAMP Summer Research Academy

Are you an undergraduate sophomore or junior majoring in one of the exciting fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)? Are you planning to continue your studies in a graduate program in your field?

The UT System LSAMP Summer Research Academy program promotes undergraduate research. The SRA allows undergraduate students to conduct supervised research with a faculty mentor. Students receive training in the research methods applicable to their research plan, analyze data, and attend monthly meetings. At the end of the summer, each SRA participant takes part in a formal research conference, which takes place at one of the institutions in the UT System.

What sort of funding is available?
Each student will be awarded a $4,000 stipend, funds to travel to one of the five doctoral-granting institutions in the University of Texas System. In addition, your mentor at the host institution will receive monetary support for supplies.

Application minimal requirements to apply:

  1. ALL LSAMP scholars must be full-time, undergraduate students majoring in a STEM field
  2. LSAMP scholars must also have completed 30 semester hours at the time of application
  3. LSAMP scholars must have a minimum 3.0 overall G.P.A.
  4. Students must be either a U.S. citizen or permanent residents of the U.S.
  5. ANY STUDENT who is a senior must be a NON-Graduating senior, meaning that they
    graduate after the MAY graduation date
