The Spirit of Permian Basin Marching Band
The Spirit of Permian Basin Marching Band aims to provide quality entertainment to a wide variety of audiences, support our athletic teams with pride, perpetual spirit, and integrity, and create a musically enriching and enjoyable experience for every member of the ensemble.
Participants consistently strive for the highest degree of performance while representing the University of Texas Permian Basin with class, dignity, and enthusiasm. The membership of the band includes both music majors and non-music majors with prior experience in the areas of Woodwinds, Brass, Drumline, and Colorguard.
All members of the marching band, regardless of their major, receive financial scholarships for their participation in this ensemble.

University Symphonic Winds
The UTPB Symphonic Winds is the primary wind band at the University of Texas Permian Basin and performs a broad range of professional-level literature. The mission of this ensemble is to achieve and maintain a high level of artistic merit and provide public performances throughout the West Texas region. The membership of the band includes both music majors and non-music majors with prior experience in the areas of Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion. All members of Symphonic Winds, regardless of their major, receive financial scholarships for their participation in this ensemble.
Woodwind Ensemble
Our Woodwind Ensemble is one of several chamber ensembles offered at the University of Texas Permian Basin and performs a broad range of professional-level literature. The mission of this ensemble is to achieve and maintain a high level of artistic merit and provide public performances throughout the West Texas region. The membership of the ensemble includes both music majors and non-music majors with prior experience on a Woodwind instrument.
Brass Ensemble
Our Brass Ensemble is one of several chamber ensembles offered at the University of Texas Permian Basin and performs a broad range of professional-level literature. The mission of this ensemble is to achieve and maintain a high level of artistic merit and provide public performances throughout the West Texas region. The membership of the ensemble includes both music majors and non-music majors with prior experience on a Brass instrument.
Percussion Ensemble
Immerse yourself in the captivating sounds of the UTPB Percussion Ensemble. This talented group weaves together a mesmerizing tapestry of diverse rhythms, creating a harmonious masterpiece. Don't miss the chance to witness the magic of percussion unfold as the UTPB Percussion Ensemble takes the stage, promising an unforgettable musical journey. The award-winning UTPB Percussion Ensemble gave several world premier performances and was an invited ensemble for several musical societies, including the TMEA Convention in 2022.
Jazz Kettle
The UTPB “Jazz Kettle” is the primary jazz ensemble for The University of Texas Permian Basin. The name derives from the term for a group of Falcons (the UTPB mascot) which is a “kettle.” The mission of the Jazz Kettle is to provide the highest level of artistic performance, advocate for the study of jazz music, provide an inclusive ensemble where personal expression is celebrated, and serve as musical ambassadors for the campus and region. The membership of the Jazz Kettle includes both music majors and non-music majors with prior experience in woodwind, brass, percussion, piano, guitar, and bass instruments.
All members of the Jazz Kettle, regardless of their major, receive financial scholarships for their participation in this ensemble.
