Computer and Specialty Rooms

The GIS (Geoscience Information Systems) and Geospatial Lab has a 1,100 square-foot space, which is located in the Geosciences building. The lab is equipped with 20 high-power computer workstations. These workstations have: 32 gb ram, 16- core processers with dual 27-inch monitors. The high-performance computers are available in the office for data collection, image processing, and spatial analysis for GIS with remote sensing. ArcGIS software is utilized for geo-referencing, reclassification, image processing, 3D visualization, and spatial-temporal analyses over regional and national scales. ENVI software is primarily used for remote sensing data collection, satellite image processing, and spatial analysis. We have received access to several industry standard commercial geoscience software packages including Petrel, Techlog, Petra, Kingdom, RokDoc, Hampson Russell, and Geographix. These software packages are accessible on all the workstations in the lab. The lab is also equipped with a wide format plotter and a Printer/Scanner/Copier for student use.  

The main goal of cyber lab is to facilitate undergraduate and graduate students to perform cutting edge cyber research. Cyber lab will incorporate various equipment as follows:

1. 15 powerful GPU support computers: Cyber lab will incorporate several powerful GPU support computers where students can study and implement machine learning based cyber defense, network vulnerabilities testing, penetration testing etc.
2. 10 powerful Gaming PC’s : Dual purpose – For eSports Club as well as for computer science courses such as game development, data science, Machine learning etc. 
3. 15 Linksys Cybersecurity Wifi router: Powerful wifi router where students can do wifi vulnerability testing, WEP, WPA attacks, de-authentication attacks etc. 
4. 1 GPU server (lambda or NVIDIA DGX-1) : Using this GPU server, students can work on deep learning, reinforcement learning based projects. 
5. Cisco ASA 5512-X Next-Generation Firewall, IBM Power System S914, Cisco Catalyst switch, Dell networking switch – For networking.
6. Dell Power edge servers: For high end computation.
7. IOT devices such as RFID modules, Bluetooth modules, C-V2X modules etc: can be used for IoT security research.
