The MBA program at UT Permian Basin provides the essential professional tools to advance our graduates into managerial careers. The MBA course work offers foundational knowledge of business strategy and culture and helps students develop the capacities employers both value and reward.  Our MBA program develops exceedingly well-prepared professionals and business leaders who can flourish and excel in any corporate or business environment or structure.

MBA Program Admission Requirements

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is open to all students who hold baccalaureate degrees from accredited colleges or universities and who meet the following provisions: satisfactory performance during the last two undergraduate years (or other evidence predicting success in graduate study), and a satisfactory score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • GPA of 3.0 or better in the last 60 credit hours of coursework leading to the baccalaureate degree
  • GRE Scores of 295 (verbal and quantitative combined) or above *OR the equivalent of three or more years of full-time professional experience in public, nonprofit, or for-profit organizations
  • Three letters of recommendation

Conditional Admission

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • GPA below 3.0 – 2.5 in the last 60 credit hours of coursework leading to the baccalaureate degree
  • GRE Scores of 287 - 294 (verbal and quantitative combined)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • OTHER EVIDENCE: At least one of the following:
    • Completion of Graduate Courses
    • Current or previous professional service in governmental, public service, non-profit, or for for profit organizations 

The final decision regarding admission will be made by the Public Administration Leadership Coordinator.

MBA Degree Requirements

  • Students are required to complete 36 semester credit hours.
  • Required core courses include 15 semester credit hours of the following courses: ACCT 6301, MNGT 6360, MRKT 6310, MNGT 6320 and FINA 6320.
  • Other required courses include: ACCT 6311, MGNT 6301, MNGT 6361, MNGT 6366 and MRKT 6301.
  • will not be given graduate credit for courses taken when the letter grade earned is less than “C”. In addition, an MBA student may count no more than two “C”
  • A degree candidate is required to maintain an overall average of “B” and maintain a GPA of 3.0 in every semester throughout his or her program of study.
  • The master’s degree must be completed within eight years.

Prep Course Update:

Upon admission (regular and conditional), students will be evaluated for statistical literacy. Students who need additional skills in this area are referred to BUSI 2342 or MATH 6301 (statistical literacy) until literacy requirement is fulfilled. Statistical literacy (BUSI 2342 or MATH 6301) must be remedied in the first semester in which the student is accepted into the MBA program and must be taken before the student enrolls in MNGT 6303, FINA 6320, MNGT 6361, MNGT 6366, or electives in accounting, finance, management, or marketing.

  • MRKT 6310 12 credit hours of upper division marketing with a "B" average
