How to prepare and apply
Your biggest source of financial aid is the FAFSA, and it's completely secure and free to fill out. You'll need a federal school code or choose which school your application should go to.

Prepare for the FAFSA
- Did you fill out a FAFSA form for 2023–24? Log in to your StudentAid.gov account and be sure your current email address is on file.
- Didn't submit a 2023–24 FAFSA form? Create an FSA ID on the Federal Student Aid website and assist contributors, such as your parent(s) or spouse, in creating an FSA ID.

APPLYING FOR FAFSA

| 1. Submit your application to UTPB | You must be admitted to UT Permian Basin and registered for classes to receive funds. |
| 2. Complete the FAFSA | Make sure it's for the correct year and semester(s) that you plan to attend. The FAFSA is used to award aid for the fall, spring, and summer semesters of each academic year. Don't forget to include UT Permian Basin's school code: 009930. |
| 3. Keep an eye out for your FAFSA Submission Summar (FSS) | When your FAFSA has been processed, you will receive a FSS in the mail or through email. The FSS is your copu of the results of the FAFSA. We will receive an electronic copy from the processing center. Review your FSS as it may contain important information regarding corrections and/or additional required documents. |
| 4. Determine if you need a Special Circumstance Form | If there has been a major change in your living situation since filing the FAFSA, or you have special circumstances that were not taken into consideration on the FAFSA, you can submit a Request of Special Cirmcumstances. - 2023-2024 School Year (Fall 23, Spring 24, & Summer 24) - FAFSA can be submitted 10/01/2022 - 06/30/2024. Tax year 2021
- 2024-2025 School Year (Fall 24, Spring 25, & Summer 25) - FAFSA can be submitted 12/31/2023 - 06/30/2025. Tax year 2022
