“What is the QEP?” We know you’ve seen the signs around campus, but in case you haven’t stopped to read them yet, we’re going to break down everything you need to know!
QEP stands for Quality Enhancement Plan and at UT Permian Basin our plan is called Falcon Maps. It’s your map to student success.
“Student success, in this case, is defined by a student’s ability to complete a degree program and graduate in four to six years with little to no debt,” said UT Permian Basin QEP Director, Dr. Nichole 
Rougeau-Vanderford.
Here are the four steps on your roadmap to graduation:
- Set your destination: your goal is to graduate. We’ll help you navigate the path.
- Plan your route: You’ll be given a map of which courses to take across eight semesters, keeping you on track for graduation.
- Find your driver: Your academic advisor and Faculty Advising Mentor (F.A.M.) will guide you through your route.
- Ride share: Take your journey with students in your same academic group (also known as meta-majors).
It’s important for UT Permian Basin students to know about Falcon Maps (QEP) so they can successfully navigate the college journey. It also plays an important role in the University’s accreditation process.
“By receiving accreditation, UTPB has proven that it is providing an education that reflects higher education standards. In other words, a degree granted by UT Permian Basin indicates a student has earned valid credentials in a specific field of study, which adds to a student’s employability,” said Rougeau-Vanderford.
