graduate student with grad cap looking back
Former assistant coach and business graduate, Oriana Labaqui, wore many hats during her time here at UTPB.
Oriana Labaqui first joined UT Permian Basin as an assistant coach for the UTPB tennis team in January 2020. It wasn’t too long before she decided to take the next step in her academic career.

“Once I started my life in Odessa, I couldn't let the opportunity of pursuing my Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree at UTPB pass along,” Oriana said.

Along with pursuing her business degree, she also became a Graduate Assistant for the College of Business and was a part of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, an exclusive academic honor society for top business school students. Oriana added she is grateful for all the financial opportunities and academic help provided by the business department at UTPB.

“Becoming a Graduate Assistant for the College of Business allowed me to work and learn from my professors. I highly recommend future students to come and enjoy the learning process at UTPB. UTPB can and will become part of your big family tree!”

Oriana graduated from UTPB with an MBA with Marketing Emphasis in the Spring of 2022. Since then, Oriana relocated to Indianapolis, IN, for a job opportunity.

“Thanks to all the knowledge gained at UTPB, today I’m thriving as a Store Manager at PLS Financial Services.”
