“I absolutely love what I do,” Wendy said. “I love the vibe that college students give out! I love mathematics and teaching."
Have you met UTPB math faculty member, Wendy Padilla?
Wendy has been teaching at UTPB for 14 years, but before that, she received her undergraduate degree from UTPB and her graduate degree at Texas Tech University.
During her time here she has taught Contemporary Mathematics, Elementary Statistics, College Algebra, Precalculus, and Calculus I, II, and III. In 2022 she was a finalist for the Regent’s Outstanding Teaching Award.
She is a mentor for our online math adjuncts, and she helped develop and teach a TSI summer boot camp that helps students test out of dev Ed math and go straight into their credit bearing math courses.
“I absolutely love what I do,” Wendy said. “I love the vibe that college students give out! I love mathematics and teaching. I feel extremely fortunate to be doing something that is rewarding and fun for me.”
Wendy said students should attend UTPB because of the family-feel and overall positive atmosphere.
“I would encourage a student to attend UTPB because the class sizes are small, and there are a lot of caring staff and faculty members who love to help.”
She shared one of her favorite quotes that inspires her:
“Mathematics is the alphabet with which God has written the universe.” -Galileo Galilee
