About Wesley Burnett

Wes Burnett HeadshotWesley Burnett currently serves as Director, Community Relations for Nacero. Before this role he served as Director of Economic Development for the Odessa Chamber of Commerce for five years. He began his duties there in September of 2016 after ten years as the Director of Economic Development in Andrews, Texas. Prior to his years in Andrews, Wes was the Director of Business Retention and Expansion for the Odessa Chamber of Commerce from 1999 until 2006. He also served as the President and CEO of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and Development Corporation in Jacksonville, Texas from 1996 to 1999.

Wes is a Certified Economic Developer with 30 years of experience in the field. He attended Odessa College and is a 1991 graduate of UT Permian Basin with a degree in Political Science and a 2006 UT Permian Basin graduate with a Master of Public Administration degree. He is also a graduate of the Economic Development Institute and the Institute for Organizational Management.

Wesley was born and raised in Odessa, Texas and has lived in Odessa on and off for over 40 years. Wesley has been married to Melisa Burnett, a 1st grade teacher at Ross Elementary in ECISD, for 33 years. They have two grown children: Caleb Burnett, 27, a graduate of Wayland Baptist University in Plainview with a music history degree, and a graduate of NYU with a master’s degree in Music Scoring for the Film and Entertainment Industry and Cayli Burnett, 26, currently enrolled at UT Permian Basin in the Teach in 3 program currently completing a teacher’s residency at Dowling Elementary.

Wes enjoys running almost every day to stay healthy and has completed two half Marathons, one with his wife Melisa. Also, Wes and his two brothers, John and Jason, hiked the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim in 2020, one of the most incredible experiences of his life
