Bachelor of Music (BM) with Choral/Vocal Emphasis

The Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis on choral/vocal is for the student with a passion for singing, vocal pedagogy, and choral music. Like the general B.M. degree, this plan of student will challenge students through instruction and give students opportunities that will prepare them for a career in music. Students in this program will have the opportunity to join The University Choir.

Careers for Bachelor of Music in Choral/Vocal Emphasis:

You can do a lot with a music degree. Our students are well prepared for job opportunities, including:

  • Choir teacher
  • Vocal coach
  • Music therapist
  • Arts Administrator
  • Choral conductor

Degree Requirements

  • The minimum total credits for a B.M. with Choral/Vocal emphasis is 127.
  • At least 30 semester credit hours must be taken at UT Permian Basin.
  • All required and elective courses must be completed with a grade of “C-“ or better.

Bachelor of Music – Choral/Vocal Emphasis

  • Students are required to complete 54 semester credit hours of music core courses.
  • A minor is not required for this degree plan.
  • Choral/Vocal specific classes include: MUSI 3221, MUSI 3231, MUSI 3240, MUSI 4240, MUEN 3103, MUEN 3113 and choice of brass, wind, percussion or string class.
