The University of Texas Permian Basin is pleased to welcome Dr. Donna Beuk to the team as its new dean of the College of Nursing.
Dr. Beuk comes to UT Permian Basin from Husson University where she has served as the Chairperson of the School of Nursing and associate professor since 2017. Prior to her time at Husson, Dr. Beuk was the Dean of Nursing Education and BSN Director at Pacific College.
“I am extremely excited and grateful to have the opportunity to join the Falcon family as Dean of the College of Nursing and work alongside the faculty and staff in educating the next generation of professional nurses,” Dr. Beuk said. “It is without a doubt that UT Permian Basin Nursing is set to drive excellence and diversity in healthcare for the community, state, region, and nation. We are “boundary-less” in our ability to become the nursing program of choice.”
Dr. Beuk spent 12 years working as a RN, with experience in clinics, hospital care, veteran care and critical care. She has spent the last 11 years teaching the next generation of nurses. Dr. Beuk earned the Irma B Moore Excellence in Teaching Award and was a candidate for Auburn University at Montgomery’s Distinguished Teaching Professor. Dr. Beuk is also a four-time member of Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities.
“We are impressed with Dr. Beuk’s work in and out of the classroom. There is a critical need to add more nurses to our area. We know Dr. Beuk can help us on that front,” UT Permian Basin President Dr. Sandra Woodley said. “Her dedication to patient care and her students is exactly what our College of Nursing needs to move into the future. We are thrilled to have her on our team.”
Dr. Beuk earned her Ed.D in Instructional Leadership – Nursing Education Specialization from The University of Alabama. She earned her ADN, BSN and MSN from The University of Mobile. She has also served as an item writer and Live Review Educator for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), the test that students must take to become a licensed nurse.
