Steve Beach, Ph.D., CIPM

Dr. Beach is Dean of the College of Business at the University of Texas Permian Basin. Steve served as Associate Dean and Professor of Finance in the College of Business and Economics at Radford University where he has been on the faculty since 2001. He has also taught at Loyola Marymount University and Texas State University. He consulted for the CFA® Institute, helping develop curriculum and training for the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement. He has provided consulting services to manufacturing firms, marketing consulting firms, government-finance officer associations, and a plastics recycling firm. Steve has garnered several teaching awards and was founding adviser of the Radford University Student Managed Investment Portfolio Organization, which won two international competitions for performance in managing equities.

Steve earned his Ph.D. from Washington State University and his MBA and BSBA from Tennessee Tech. His research has focused on global portfolio management, personal finance, and downside risk measures.

Steve is married to Rachael Beach, a middle school teacher and native Austinite, and has two children: Zack, a graduate of Radford University, and Cypress, a student at Virginia Tech. Steve plays tennis for exercise and relaxation and is an avid fan of sports, music, and the arts.
