Drugs of Abuse, Hormones, and the Brain

Dr. Juan Dominguez from UT Austin will discuss his research on how drugs of abuse like cocaine, subvert brain systems that regulate natural reward. Hormones like estrogens and testosterone, act in the brain to modulate reward response. How hormones might influence the brain's response to drugs pf abuse is a topic of great interest to many in the scientific community. In this presentation, Dr. Dominguez describes some of these hormones-to-brain mechanisms along with recent discoveries from his laboratory on this topic. Will take place in room MB2110.
