Thirty Day Report and Disclosure – June 1, 2020

The University of Texas Permian Basin acknowledges that it signed and returned to the Department of Education on April 14, 2020 the Certification and Agreement that gives assurance that the institution will use 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Aid Grants to students.  

  • The total amount of funds that UTPB received on May 7, 2020 from the U.S. Department of Education for distribution to students is $920,008. 
  • The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of June 1, 2020 is $256,600.00.   
  • The estimated total number of students at UTPB who are eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 1,458. 
  • The total number of students who have received an Emergency Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of June 1, 2020 is $256,600.00.   
  • The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency Aid Grants and how much they would receive under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act are as follows: 
    • Students who completed the COVID-19 Emergency Fund application. 
    • Award priority will be given to students with the highest need as demonstrated either through the calculated EFC from the FAFSA or other factors. The date eligible students complete the application will also be used in making awards. 
    • Standard amounts will be awarded with the goal to assist as many students as possible with a meaningful dollar amount: 
      • Eligible full-time students with an EFC below $19,000 will receive $1,000.  
      • Eligible full-time students with an EFC above $19,000 will receive $900. 
      • Eligible students enrolled less than full time with an EFC below $19,000 will receive $800. 
      • Eligible students enrolled less than full time with an EFC above $19,000 will receive $700. 
  • Instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the Emergency Aid Grants are:
