UT Permian Basin's Response to Coronavirus
The University of Texas Permian Basin is continuing to carefully monitor the coronavirus outbreak and is receiving guidance from The University of Texas System and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
There are currently no UTPB faculty, staff, or students who have reported symptoms or a diagnosis of coronavirus disease.
The highest priority for UT Permian Basin is the health and well-being of our students, faculty and staff. Because of that, UTPB is prohibiting all University-related travel for students, faculty, and staff to any level 3 or level 2 country, as defined by the CDC. In addition, we are reviewing all University travel and pending travel as we assess safety risks.
The University continues to encourage students, faculty, and staff to use the following safety and hygiene best-practices to avoid all types of illness:
- Wash your hands with soap and water often
- Cough and sneeze into a tissue or your sleeve
- Avoid touching your eyes and mouth with unwashed hands
- Stay home if you are sick to prevent others from getting sick
We have increased our messaging around these best practices with a new campaign to promote illness prevention.
