Champions Fund Launch
The University of Texas Permian Basin Athletics Department has officially launched the 2024-2025 Champions Fund Campaign.

The Champions Fund exists to strengthen all 14 NCAA sports programs at UTPB. With a $1 million fundraising goal, the fund will provide essential resources to help student-athletes excel in the classroom and in their prospective sports while also growing community support for UTPB Athletics.

As part of the campaign’s kickoff, longtime UTPB supporters Kirk and Brenna Edwards announced a
generous pledge to match the first $100,000 raised. Their contribution highlights their dedication to the University and our mission to develop student-athletes into leaders.

"Brenna and I are proud to support the Champions Fund at UTPB," said Kirk Edwards. "This campaign is an opportunity to invest in the success of student-athletes and strengthen the sense of pride in UTPB and West Texas. We hope this match inspires others to give and help us reach the $1 million goal."

The campaign began with an impressive $20,000 contribution from proud UTPB alumnus Edgardo Madrid of Edgardo Madrid & Associates, setting the stage for additional community involvement and generosity.

Edgardo Madrid“The Champions Fund is about more than athletics-it’s about creating opportunities for our student-athletes to excel. Having competitive intercollegiate athletics right here in West Texas is a point of pride for our University and our region. I want to thank our donors, community leaders, faculty, staff, and student-athletes for their commitment to building champions on and off the playing surface," said Scott Larson, Vice President for Athletics.

The Champions Fund enables UTPB to provide essential resources for its student-athletes, from academic support and scholarships to top-tier facilities.
