“We are excited to have already received many compliments about our gameday presence this year.”

The UTPB Dance Team is making strides as they kick off the fall semester. This year the team has grown from 9 to 13 dancers, with six veterans and seven rookies.

With the football season just beginning, Head Dance Coach Brooklyn Anderson is working hard to ensure their team creates an exciting gameday experience for the community at sporting events!

“We are excited to have already received many compliments about our gameday presence this year,” said Anderson.

Cheer and dance are a major part of the overall environment at athletics events. Anderson says she takes their role on gamedays seriously as the team performs at pregame, halftime, media timeouts, and on the sidelines at every home game.

“Without spirit teams and the band, games would simply not be near as fun or exciting for the crowd or players,” said Anderson.

They have also been continuing the tradition of Fist Bump Fridays every Friday morning at a different elementary school in the community.

“This is such a fun way of pumping up the kids for the school day, getting them excited about UTPB, and improving the exposure of spirit groups to show kids what they could possibly be a part of one day!” said Anderson.

In the midst of football season, the team is also training hard behind the scenes to prepare for their spring competition season.

This year Anderson says the dancers are committed with established goals to strive for. She says the dancers are passionate about dance and being a part of UTPB!

“As a coach, I will admit that I expect a lot and take my role very seriously in improving the dancers, setting them up for success and making sure the products they are putting out to an audience are always our best. The team has seemed to really thrive on this style of coaching and we are all working very well together!” said Anderson.

UTPB Dance is off to an amazing start, and Anderson is looking forward to the upcoming year.

“This team has so much potential and I am already loving watching them grow and improve each practice!” said Anderson.
