- Pre-Med Camp Ignites Future Healthcare Dreams at UTPB
UTPB hosted its first-ever Pre-Med Camp on June 23, 2025, welcoming 18 high school students eager to explore careers in medicine. The camp, led by Dr. Jin Lee, Co-Chair of Biology and Director of the Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP), introduced students to pre-med pathways, featured expert guest speakers, and offered hands-on learning experiences.
Key contributors included:
- Director Cassandra Hernandez – led marketing, student recruitment, and event hospitality
- Professor Samantha Perales – managed logistics and partner coordination
- Dr. Cates – provided one-on-one mentorship to students
“Programs like Pre-Med Camp are vital to helping students see what’s possible,” said Dr. Raj Dakshinamurthy, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “I’m incredibly grateful to the dedicated faculty and staff whose hard work made this camp possible.”
Positive feedback from students and families has already sparked plans for future sessions, helping more young Falcons take flight toward a future in healthcare.
