UTPB hits $1M Champions Fund goal for 2024–2025, boosting 14 NCAA programs. Thanks to donors, Athletics targets $1.25M for 2025–2026.
The University of Texas Permian Basin is proud to announce that the UTPB Champions Fund has successfully reached its $1 million fundraising goal for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. The University wants to extend a special thanks to the generous support of longtime donors Kirk and Brenna Edwards, who pledged $100,000, and UTPB alumnus Edgardo Madrid of Edgardo Madrid & Associates, who contributed $20,000 in December 2024. Their contributions provided vital resources to strengthen all 14 NCAA sports programs at UTPB. Building on this momentum, the Athletics Department has set a new goal of $1.25 million for the 2025–2026 Champions Fund campaign.
“The support from our donors and the community has been incredible,” said Scott Larson, Vice President of Athletics. “Reaching the $1 million goal shows the pride and commitment people have for UTPB Athletics. These funds make a tremendous difference for UTPB athletics, starting with attracting quality student-athletes and then helping them excel academically, compete at a high level and help them grow as leaders in the Permian Basin and beyond. We’re excited to keep the momentum going as we aim for this year’s goal of $1.25 million.”
“The generosity of our donors and the engagement of our community are what make milestones like this possible. We are thrilled to celebrate this achievement and look forward to growing support for UTPB Athletics and the student-athletes who represent our University with pride,” added Jacqui Gore, Vice President of External Relations.
The UTPB Champions Fund provides essential resources for UTPB student-athletes, including academic support, scholarships, and top-tier facilities.
